Canada Tourist Visa (Temporary Resident Visa – TRV)

The Canada Tourist Visa, officially known as the Temporary Resident Visa (TRV), allows individuals to visit Canada for leisure, tourism, or to meet family and friends. It is a non-immigrant visa and does not permit employment.

Process

  • Start by confirming whether you need a visitor visa or are eligible for an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA), based on your nationality.
  • Once confirmed, gather all required documents including your passport, recent photographs, proof of financial support, travel itinerary, a letter of invitation (if visiting family), and ties to your home country to show your intent to return.
  • Next, create an account on the IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada) portal and complete the online visa application form by entering accurate personal, travel, and background information.
  • Upload all required documents to the portal and pay the application fee of CAD 100 using a valid debit or credit card.
  • After submitting the application, you may receive a Biometric Instruction Letter asking you to book a biometrics appointment at the nearest VAC (Visa Application Centre).
  • Once biometrics and additional processing are complete, you will receive a decision; if approved, your passport will be stamped with the TRV and returned via mail or collected in person.

Canada Student Visa (Study Permit)

A Canadian Study Permit allows international students to study at a Designated Learning Institution (DLI) in Canada. It also allows part-time work during studies and post-study work opportunities depending on the course.

Process

  • Begin by applying to and receiving an acceptance letter from a Designated Learning Institution (DLI) in Canada, which is mandatory for obtaining a study permit.
  • Next, gather your supporting documents, including your valid passport, Letter of Acceptance, proof of financial capacity to cover tuition and living expenses, photographs, Statement of Purpose (SOP), and language proficiency scores such as IELTS or TOEFL if required.
  • Create an account on the IRCC portal and complete the online study permit application by filling in all academic, personal, and background details.
  • Upload your documents, pay the application fee of CAD 150, and submit your application through the IRCC portal.
  • After submission, you may receive a request for biometrics, medical exams, or an interview depending on your country of residence.
  • If your application is approved, you will receive a Port of Entry (POE) Letter of Introduction and a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) or eTA depending on your nationality. The actual study permit will be issued at the Canadian border upon arrival.
