Spain Tourist Visa (Schengen Visa – Type C)

The Spain Tourist Visa, officially known as the Schengen Visa (Type C), allows non-EU/EEA nationals to enter Spain and other Schengen countries for tourism, leisure, or short family visits for a maximum of 90 days within a 180-day period.

Process

  • Start by checking if your nationality requires a Schengen visa to enter Spain for short stays.
  • Then, fill out the visa application form and schedule an appointment with the Spanish embassy, consulate, or an authorized visa application center such as BLS International.
  • Prepare your documents including a valid passport (with at least two blank pages and validity extending three months beyond your return), recent passport-size photographs, round-trip travel tickets, confirmed accommodation details, travel insurance with a minimum coverage of €30,000, and a detailed itinerary.
  • You must also submit proof of sufficient financial means, typically shown through recent bank statements, employment letters, or sponsor documentation.
  • On the day of your appointment, submit your application, pay the visa fee of €80, and provide biometric data.
  • Visa processing generally takes 10–15 working days, after which your visa will be issued and stamped in your passport, permitting short-term travel to Spain and the Schengen area.

Spain Student Visa (Long-Stay Visa – Type D)

The Spain Student Visa (Type D) is a long-stay visa that allows non-EU/EEA students to live in Spain while attending a full-time academic program at a recognized institution. It allows you to stay beyond 90 days and includes part-time work rights.

Process

  • Start by applying to and receiving an official acceptance letter from a Spanish university, language school, or educational institution.
  • Then, complete the national visa application form and schedule an appointment at the Spanish consulate or BLS visa center in your country.
  • Prepare the necessary documents including your passport, visa form, admission letter, proof of sufficient financial means (about €600–€700 per month), private health insurance valid in Spain, proof of accommodation, academic transcripts, and a clean criminal background check.
  • Submit your documents at the scheduled appointment, pay the visa fee (typically around €60–€80), and provide biometric data.
  • If your visa is approved, it will be issued for the initial duration of your studies, often up to 6 or 12 months.
  • Once you arrive in Spain, you must apply for a Foreigner Identity Card (TIE) at the local police station within 30 days and register your local address.
